Worth the 45 minute trip to the restaurant and certainly a plaice (!) to visit GW score 18/20 Knightor Pinot Noir Rosé 2018 @knightor_winery Light in body and alcohol of 11.5 % Soft, delicate, fruity wine with aromas of Strawberry 🍓 vanilla, cream Very similar in style to a Sancerre or Provence rose An elegant pale pink wine, with delicate wild strawberries 🍓 , cream, vanilla and cherry 🍒 aromas. The palate is dry, wonderfully well rounded and fruit filled. Serve at 8-10°c. Cantina Valle Isarco Kerner 2018 Here’s a different one for you ! From the guys at @vagabondwines (approx £20) also available in Italy (obvs) and the 🇺🇸. Tasting notes Color: straw-yellow with greenish hues Bouquet: intense, aromatic Taste: dry, full, aromatic with light scent of muscat - almost tastes like nothing else- a magical willy wonka of a taste sensation. Imagine sweet characteristics in a clean crisp and fresh experience. The little known varietal The Kerner variety is a part Riesling hybrid created in Weinsberg (Germany) around 1930. It prefers the light, gravelly and sandy soils of the higher altitude. Despite their late ripening period, these grapes provide a highly acclaimed full-bodied and tasty wine. Food pairing an excellent aperitif 🥂 light hors d’oeuvres, cold meats , egg 🥚 or mushroom 🍄 dishes, poached freshwater fish 🐟 and shellfish 🦞 🦐 🦀 GW score 19/20. Only because It was a varietal I was not expecting to try and a taste that was pleasantly different. Prudhon and family The estate The fabulous estate has origins going back almost 100 years. Might be a good time to invest or at least keep an eye on what they are doing for the anniversary. Henri Prudhon was born in Saint-Aubin in 1921. Son of a winegrower. The estate was always handed down from generation to generation. So it was inevitable that one of his children, Gérard, came back to work with his parents. In the 40’s and 50’s the estate's harvest was mostly sold as grape must or wine to the region's wine merchants and arguably of low quality! In the early 80s, that changed , Gérard wanted to develop bottling and direct marketing activities, well aware of the quality potential the estate wines possessed. Having acquired Saint-Aubin, Chassagne Montrachet and Puligny Montrachet his reputation increased together with reasonable prices. The HENRI PRUDHON estate quickly took advantage of this situation to establish a lasting presence on the English and American markets. Nowadays, the domain is managed by Gérard's two children, Vincent and Philippe. They continue the work the previous generations began, by bottling new appellations, developing new markets, erecting a building dedicated to preparing orders, modernising the cellar and vineyard equipment. the HENRI PRUDHON estate represents: - 14.5 hectares of vineyard - 90,000 bottles/year - 85% of its business is export. 2014 St Aubin 1er cru ‘les Frionnes’. Shows freshness in youth and a handy savoury note when aged. Full of ripe fruit of raspberries and strawberries with a forest floor fruit ( try saying that when your drunk ! ) and a touch of menthol. Good to drink now. But will keep. Till 2025 Pairs well with duck and chicken as well as some roasts. Give this producer a go. Fabulous at approx £27-30 ($35-45) available in 🇬🇧 🇺🇸. TASTING NOTES 2017 Wallis Chardonnay: lovely evidence of nectarine and oatmeal together with white peach. This is a very vibrant and fresh white Would perfectly suit scallops or white fish drink till 2029. 18/20. 2017 McCutcheon Chardonnay Has a delicate citrus to this wonderful Chardonnay Touches I’d clean fruit. Melon and grapefruit and a Granny Smith apple Lovely long finish Drink till 2029 Suits crab dishes very well. Hard to get hold of. 17/20 2017 Judd Chardonnay flint white peach with grapefruit. Only 233 cases of 12 made If you want some you have to look hard drink till 2029 Suits sashimi and tuna very well 18/20 2017 McCutcheon Pinot Noir. Dark fruit with some welcome acidity Prob needs more time to grow into an adult. Pair with aubergine 🍆 (acidity ) drink till 2027 18/20 2017 Wallis Pinot noir dark red fruits Think of forest floor fruits black brambles and loganberries. A big smack of cloves hits you. Finished off with pomegranate and cherry. Wpuld suit bresaola and some cheddars till 2027. 18/20 2017 Judd Pinot noir Sour cherries and a delicate spice to this wine It is not an smack in the chops’ but more.a gentle stroke on the face tulle 2029, pair with Turkey 🦃 and cranberry 18/20 2017 coolart road raspberries and black cherry good balance between fruit and structure Good use of oak. Not only is the wine a stand out wine but you have to delve more into this winery. David Walsh ( the owner) is a character in himself. -worthy of research his estate house @monamuseum architectural gems from the company @fenderkatsalidis Truely a spectacular place .... having tasted some of the wines the wine that really stood out was 2009 Muse Pinot Noir ,Tasmania Too much to take in quickly. This has to be savoured. Aromas of berries cherries and violets together with sandlewood ( my fav wood ) and mushrooms 🍄 it’s bold and elegant - like Jessica Rabbit with attitude ! Will soften over time as the fruit was pretty evident I even caught cranberries on the palate such is the delicate finesse of this wine. If you can be patient this wine will only get better It’s a cross between fruit and oak - something that is never done well very often The palate even shows notes of leather and tobacco. For Pinot noir lovers. This is a must. Although the 2009 is sold out. @thospeatling 🇬🇧 and @moorillawinery 🇦🇺 have it use @Wine-Searcher to find it else where I believe this is a bucket list wine and although sold out I would rate this a grape wizard score of 20/20 rare score indeed. ( last one was @cvnevino imperial 2015 from @coopuk ) pair with 🥩 🦌 🐓 🦃 but too bold for salmon ! Nearly finished. 6 th on the list was this fabulous 2014 Pinot noir Laurene touch of spices of anise cardamon and fenugreek ! Red cherries 🍒. A little tight in structure but with time@will open up Smooth tannins and good acidity for this red. 5th wine to be tasted. This was the star of the show for me 2016 Roserock Zéphirine Pinot noir Pale to medium in colour (ruby/purple ) on the sniffy sniff 👃 was black fruit Blackcurrents and black cherry 🍒 violets and maybe a touch of bramble berries. The palate carries the same characteristics and does@produce some slightly grippy tannins. Long finish Can stand up to heavier red meats and would accompany white meats perfectly 1400 cases produced. £47.50 from @berrybrosrudd @veronique_drouhin For me I would give this 19/20 only loosing one on the unsexy label 🏷!#berrybrosrudd #redfruit #redwine #oregon

De Bortoli La Bohème Pinot Noir Rosé is one of the most interesting roses I’ve come across. @bws_northsydney and airlie beach had this salmon pink on promotion. Aus $ 26 or approx £13. Subtle aromas of strawberry, pomegranate and marzipan. crisp and very refreshing. This will do for a holiday for 3 weeks when every day is sunny 😎. If I lived here this would certainly be a favourite rose. After a hard day on the beach and a cooling gin and tonic from @capebyrondistillery and an arduous journey as a passenger then I had to go to @colessupermarkets #liquorland and try to figure out what wine to buy.
